About Rechie Valdez

As the leader of a non-profit basketball festival of men’s, women’s, and youth basketball tournaments and music festivals in Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square, Rechie witnessed the power to unite people by making sports inclusive, giving everyone an equal chance to play and participate on the court.

Rechie understands both the challenging and rewarding aspects of raising a family as a working parent. As a mother of two and a former corporate banker for fifteen years, she honed her expertise in change management, project management, and strategy. These experiences have made it clear to her that all Canadians deserve the opportunity to thrive in the workplace, provide for their families and loved ones, and access affordable housing and childcare.

As a proud Filipina-Canadian, Rechie co-founded a Filipino Fusion line of pastries stocked in two national Asian grocery chains in Mississauga. She has actively contributed to the professional Filipino community. As the first Filipino woman elected Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister in Canada, she is committed to ensuring that all voices of the riding she represents are heard.

All of Rechie’s experiences have shown her that the best path forward is unity. She believes in listening and learning from others through two-way conversations.
