What an incredible week! I had the opportunity to participate in Equal Voice’s panel discussion with inspiring and accomplished women. Together we celebrated 100 years of women MPs! The panel was comprised of the Honourable Jean Augustine (1st Black woman MP), former MP Nancy Karetak-Lindell (1st Inuk woman MP), current MP Salma Zahid, (1st woman MP to wear hijab in the House of Commons), and yours truly.
I also rose in the House of Commons to ask the Minister of Women, Gender Equality and Youth, the Honourable Marci Ien, how our government is addressing the rise of gender based violence across Canada.
On December 8th 2021, Bill C-4 was granted Royal Assent by the Governor General of Canada Mary Simon, banning the practice of conversion therapy across the country.
Tonight at 8PM EST, you are all invited to the Virtual Filipino Christmas on the Hill 2021 event for the Filipino-Canadian community which will be hosted by Kevin Lamoureux and myself. Tune in to celebrate Christmas with us and Filipino-Canadian communities from coast to coast. Tonight's program will include special messages from the Prime Minister, Liberal MPs and Ministers. The program will also include talent from Filipino-Canadians across the nation.
During this time of year, there is a lot going on In and Around Mississauga. Together, let’s support local businesses, give back to those in need, and take part in the spirit of the Holidays safely.
